Fleet Landing Restaurant & Bar

We can't say enough about Fleet Landing. It's wonderful. Go early, there us usually a wait, particularly for outdoor seating. The wait staff is some of the finest we have encountered. Young professional types. The food is the very finest. Last time we treated ourselves to one piece of pecan pie, which may have been the finest we have ever eaten. The manager came by to deliver the pie, just checking on the service. He was a mortgage banker from Florida, and when we asked about the extremely fine quality of his wait staff, he indicated they were very well paid, and the training is extensive and ongoing. Unlike another experience we had up at the market, Fleet Landing is just plain great.

My family ate here at lunchtime on a Sunday. We chose to eat outside on the deck. It was a pleasantly warm and sunny day, and the view out over the bay was very pretty. The view added considerably to our dining experience. I had the pasta and vegetables with seared shrimp as my entree. The presentation was really nice but to my surprise the dish didn't have much flavor. (It was pasta, vegetables and shrimp without sauce.) I had to add quite a few shakes of salt and pepper to bring out some taste. I gathered from others in my family that shrimp and grits is the restaurant's forte. Our waitress was friendly yet inattentive. Our meal lasted a bit longer than an hour and she came to our table just a few times. This was my second time at Fleet Landing. My takeaway is to come for the view, not necessarily the cuisine, which is pedestrian.

Very cool place that used to be an old Navy building. Great view that faces east and great views of the bay and really close to where the cruise ships come in. This place was pretty busy when my wife and I went for cocktails and an app. I just had wine and Spinach dip, so I really can't comment on the food. The atmosphere is great and the bartenders were excellent and were great at multi-tasking multiple customers at a time. Definitely will be back to try the food next time we are in Charleston!

We had both seafood and steak. Both were delicious. The outdoor seating was very nice. It is the only water front restaurant in downtown Charleston. We watched the dolphins swim while we ate. Great scenery.

Steven was a fantastic, friendly, and on top of it (and well informed about the menu) server. The views are great in every seat. All the seafood is fresh and well presented and the people in my party raved about the fried okra. The shrimp and grits are good, though (as a local) not my favorite since they are more spicy and I prefer a sweeter gravy...that is just personal preference though!
