Gunpowder Falls State Park

So many sections of this park. The Sweathouse Area is my favorite. We have so much enjoyed hiking here. It is pretty easy to chart a path for a six mile hike. Beautiful walk beside the river and up the hillside. I highly recommend it for local hikes. The only issue we have seen is a number of people ignoring the leash requirement for dogs. Not well monitored that way, but so far not a big problem.

Great set of hiking trails that hug the river and loop up into the woods. A little bit of everything for anyone. Good for dogs, hiking, swimming and overall outdoors.

Love to go for hikes here! There are many trails of varying difficulty and the connect in different places so you can kind of customize you distance by combining trails or taking another trail back to cut your.hike short if you need to. Also there is a swimming area if you go left out of the parking lot instead of right.

I was there yesterday with 10 teenagers- they and I had a blast! We rented tubes from Monkton Bike (bring cash) and headed up the trail. The other two 40something moms and I did not kill ourselves getting into the river via a steep slope but it was a close one. Once on the river it was a relaxing, joyful time to reconnect without electronic devices. We picnicked at the tables by the station afterward. Great day.
