Hotel Indigo Newark Downtown

Went for a drink with my friend, stayed for dinner. Had the bed sliders. Tiny but good. Worth 10 clams? Not sure, but I have a soft spot for the building so I didn't mind. Overall great spot to hang and watch the sun go down.

Phenomenal stay, the room was modern and super comfortable. The biggest issue I had was the intelligent zone lighting. I just want to be able to turn the lights on and off. The novelty was pretty cool I guess.

The front desk staff is very nice, however they don't do anything they say they're going to do. I waited, quite literally, all night for a maintenance engineer to come up to my room. Called 5 times down to the lobby and walked down and asked twice. Every time they told me my name was on some magical list (apparently there are a lot of rooms that need the maintenance engineer?). They never did show up. The switchs for the lighting and window shades don't work at all. You've just gotta bang on them with something until you achieve the result you're looking for. The a/c-heater unit doesn't work in many of the rooms either. It achieves equilibrium with whatever the weather is outside +/- a few degrees so you might wanna ask for extra blankets when its cold out or be comfortable being naked when it's hot out. The only redeeming factor here is it's got a cool vibe and the staff actually smiles.

No manager on duty Saturday or Sunday. Couldn't even get an extra pillow, they had no house keeping on duty? Blood stain in sheets. Paid for breakfast but after an hour we gave up waiting, no kitchen manager, hotel claims they don't run restaurant but they charged us for the breakfast. For over 200 this is a joke. I have never been more disappointed. Whoever is the weekend manger should be fired and the GM needs to look at how this hotel is run. Will be following up with Visa over these charges. Update... Management never contacted us as promised, when we got in touch with corporate they told us we would get a refund, which was never processed, they even had the nerve to charge us for a second night that we didn't even stay there. Shockingly bad service for what seems like a great hotel.

Stayed two nights mid-week on business and found the room spacious and clean. The staff was cordial and check out was very efficient. Only ate breakfast in the hotel but the food was quite good. Several other nice restaurants within easy walking distance.
