It's okay. Not much to see or do other than the random emaciated deer or a walk along lake Michigan, which isn't that impressive . You'd would have a way better experience at Chain O lakes state park about 45 min west. The bike trails aren't very scenic. The bath houses are kinda gross. I'd skip this one if I were you. All site are 25 bucks. All electric. No water or sewer hook up at sites. They do have water at random locations and a dump site near the entrance /exit. I was there in late April during a week day. 300 sites....maybe 10 were filled.

Moved in the area about over a year ago. When we first saw this place, we absolutely loved it. Later on the year, it was hit by a storm and most of the shoreline and part of the parking lot was ruined. From the condition of the abandoned buildings, it looks like the state/area has little intentions to maintain the place and will eventually get washed away by the waters.

Surprisingly beautiful spot right outside the city. Lots of great tent spots in the campground. Inner rings are pine forest, ring closest to the lake are sandy, some tree cover but you can hear the waves crashing.

Always a good place to get away from it all. It's nature, so don't expect much. It comes complete with mud for your shoes and mosquito bites. Plus all the fresh air to help you sleep like a baby later. Bring a lunch and enjoy being by the water in the quiet of nature.

We really enjoyed staying here, right along the lake front. Hearing the waves on the shore while falling asleep was fantastic! The sites are a little close together and with little greenery between them, but level and clean for the most part. The abandoned pavilions along the water front trail were a little disappointing and the decommissioned nuclear power plant next store that was in the process of being dismantled was somewhat disconcerting, but just something you have to accept in life. We hope to return someday when the wind and waves may be up a little more to be able to enjoy the feel and sounds of the waterfront even more!
