Lake Lansing Park South

Came for swimming with the kids. Adult swimming did not seem a safe option due to the motor boats and jetskis on the larger lake, but for floating in the shallow, safe-guarded and floaty-lined in area, this worked. Kids liked it. Tiny beach, some shaded areas with trees and lots of picknic options. Easy parking in the overflow and very short walk. No mosquitoes as of the end of May. Getting an annual pass seems smart, as it is also good for hawk island park. Next stop, there!

There are boat rentals, a beach, and pretty decent play equipment. If you're the type that forces your family to go outside, this isn't a bad place to take them.

I've been visiting this park in all areas since childhood, and its sprawling, multifaceted play structures have catalyzed a love of exploration in me that perpetuates today. The grounds are kept lush and maintained throughout the warmer months, while the same cannot be said for the public grills dotting the grounds, most of which are fairly degraded due to oxidation. If this park manages to secure funding for a refreshing of their existing structures, it will delight young and old for generations to come.

My favorite public swimming place. Always clean, lifeguards always on duty, and not expensive to park.
