Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Ames

Nice place. We were given a great price on our room. Only real complaint is that the bathroom fan, which is on the same switch as the light, is extremely loud. The people below us kept theirs on all night and I could feel it as well as hear it. The beds are very comfortable and, if you ask the desk clerk, you may be able to get a coffeemaker in your room. Usually they are only in the suites.

Poor customer service! We arrived at the hotel after a five hour drive to find out that the room I book over a month earlier had been given away. I was originally told by the front desk agent that I received the room I booked. Finally, after going back downstairs and showing my original confirmation, she told me that she didnt know what happened to my room. There was no I'm sorry, let me find you another room or anything. She said it was central booking's fault. I was too tired to beg for my too beds and didn't feel like sleeping in the same bed with my 17 year old son. So, we went across the street to the Fairfield Inn. It was nearly 10pm and raining but I'm glad we found a room across the street. They were much friendlier and welcoming. Their rooms were also much cleaner.

It was a very nice hotel. The workers were all extremely pleasent. We stayed there for 2 nights. The rooms were very clean. They have breakfast from 6-10 am which was very good! On the first floor they allow you to bring your dog which is nice. Next time i go i will bring my dog. It is located right off of the freeway so it is easy to find. Also it is right next to restaurants so getting food was easy. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

As a returning guest, I picked Microtel due to affordability and location. It's easy to find and not terribly far from downtown Ames. There are plenty of places to eat nearby and plenty of local shopping. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Will definitely return.
