Motel 6 Des Moines West

Staff at checkin were super efficient and friendly. Took like 3 minutes total. Room decent for the price. My toilet seat and tub had some black tar looking stuff on it and it didn't flush right. Those things are such cheap fixes. The mattress was pretty hard/cheap. A good topper would be awesome. My ground floor window (in a smoking room) wouldn't even open a crack. Its pretty modern, tho - on the new side and for West Des Moines, its a good room for the price.

If I could give this place one star I would. We called ahead because my husband and I are truck drivers and we were looking for a place that had a pool outside and that was pet friendly with smoking in the rooms and truck parking. Whoever I talk to at the main office lied there is no truck parking they didn't have availability for the room. No smoking in the rooms the pool is closed. Only thing accommodating was that it was pet friendly. No refrigerator in the room like they said there would be. I'm really irritated right now and it's late so we can't find somewhere else to go. So we are staying here unfortunately. The lady at the front desk was nice when we first got here and found us a room to stay in. But once we got here and found out everything else about it she became rude and said that she would give me my money back and I could go stay somewhere else. I will never be back to this hotel.

Lisa, at the front desk, was ABSOLUTELY amazing! She saved my boyfriend and I 100$ just by booking through Motel 6 and cancelling the booking online. It was amazing! And it was his birthday as well, so we got to do so much more for his birthday with the extra 100$ we saved, all thanks to Lisa!

Loved the room! Small but very nicely furnished and clean. Easy to go outside to potty dogs and lots of grassy area for them. Too bad some people are disgusting and don't clean up after their animals but I do, and I did. Quiet, good selection of TV entertainment, except no Investigation Discovery. Boooooo. Oh well! Well stocked and heat/air conditioning worked very well. The bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows, which are usually bricks with a pillowcase. I will stay here again when I'm back for other dog events in the area.

We arrived in Des Moines late at night most hotels were booked. This hotel is nicely updated, clean and very friendly. We were able to get two adjoining rooms for four with a small dog for $75:00 each room. Great people.
