Shiki Japanese Restaurant

The best food for the money. Very large portions and excellent quality dishes. Their sushis are outstanding. Small place and self serve.

One of the best economical Japanese restaurants in San Jose! Not a chain, but also not over priced. My choice for Japanese fare! Their salad dressing is amazing, as is their sashimi and California rolls. We also love the ton katsu (breaded pork cutlet) and the teriyaki chicken, as well as the tempura. This place is great! But be prepared for a long wait after work, because this place is popular!!! And there's a reason why!

Service can be slow when alot of people order around the same time due to small staff. But if you're patient the food is simple but quality Japanese.

I lived in Japan for several years and this restaurant would not be my first choice to eat Japanese food. However, the few times I've eaten here, I've only had the bento box. The tempura was crispy on the outside and tender inside. The chicken teriyaki was tasty and it's served over noodles. No table service so you have to order @ the cash register and bus your own table. They serve the food on foam plates with plastic utensils and foam cups for water. Restaurant is very cramped and the staff is friendly.
