Station is busy but pretty easy to navigate. People there are helpful as well, don’t be afraid to ask.

Big subway station on 8th ave for the A,C,E. The sides are offset. Downtown side run from 42 to 40th st., Uptown side runs from 42 to 44. Underground passage to the 7th Ave lines and times square runs under 41st. Usually some musician playing at the 8th Ave end of that tunnel.

One of the busiest stations in NYC Subway with passageway to Times Square-42 St for 1/2/3/7/N/Q/R/W/42 St Shuttle. You can literally go anywhere in the city via Subway as there are many lines to take at this station. It's tedious to walk to the Uptown platform on A/C/E from the bus terminal but the platform is spacious and is one of the cleanest platforms I've been on the subway.

I recall when I was a teenager this place was scary and surrounded by x rated theatre's, prostitutes and drug dealers, who often lurked inside. You couldn't use a bathroom in this place without dealing with runways asking for money to give you an empty stall. Now I can go to some nice stores, bakeries, or sit in a nice place, use the free WiFi and enjoy a coffee before I jump on a bus or hop on a train. The subways are still not the cleanest & the underground is old but as a native New Yorker I think it's got character. I know millions of people have walked these very same steps, performers still find a home and play their music, artists still paint and draw and sell their wares, the over zealous religious people are still shoving pamphlets in my hand and the newsstands still await me. Therefore, with all its faults, I still enjoy it and I probably always will. The Port Authority Police are everywhere and they mean business but they'll but help you find your way if you're a bit lost in the shuffle, even though they're outnumbered by the masses, I've seen them help with serious things as well as the mundane and they do it with a smile. It's got a long way to go but it's come a very long way from the way it was.
