Holiday Inn Des Moines DTWN - Mercy Area

I travel often for work so I have seen my share of hotels across the US. What I look for in a hotel: cleanliness, convenience, comfort, and privacy. This hotel is definitely clean despite the fact that the room seemed a little dated. No stale smells or questionable stains here :) Convenience - there is a restaurant in the hotel as well as a bar, so if you feel like eating in, they do offer room service. I also had just used up the last of my toothpaste and they gave me some for free. Very nice service. Comfort - they offer a variety of firm and soft pillows and the bed was very comfy. My room had a nice little sitting area that was nice to hang out in while I worked. Pretty comfortable and was able to get settled in easily. Privacy - Here, they lose a star. The walls are kind of thin. I could hear the lady in the next room hacking up a lung at 3 am, loud enough that it woke me up. Also, this hotel is down the block from a major hospital. I knew when the ambulances were running. Overall, a nice experience and a pleasant enough stay. I'll be back but I'm definitely bringing ear plugs next time.

I am attending this hotel for a conference. The grounds were exceptionally clean and nice. The staff was amazing and accommodated my needs to pump throughout the conference. Would gladly give this place my business!!

The staff was great and very accommodating. Everybody was friendly and the room was very nice and clean. Would recommend anybody to stay there if they are in Des Moines

Hotel was ok; a little dated but within walking distance to the Hy-Vee Center. Nice restaurant but I prefer to have a quick continental grab and go breakfast in-house and not a sit down meal first thing in the morning but I didn't choose the hotel. Staff was extremely nice. They recommended Jimmy Johns for quick delivery; bad idea. I waited over an hour for two sandwiches. Four elevators and when they are busy we waited forever! There is no option to take stairs to any room. Even on the first floor.

We were there for a wedding. Everything about the wedding was wonderful. However, the breakfast buffet was terrible from the service to the food. No coffee was available, no silverware on the table, no one came back to take our drink order and the food was not that great. Would I stay there again? Not unless it was the last place available.
