Reviews
Booked a last minute stay and was actually surprised since some of the reviews seemed a bit harsh. The room was clean, ready and well stocked with towels, etc. The pool area is perfect for children and can't complain...perfect for the younger child, but there are separate pool areas so probably good for all ages- we have a 3 year old. He LOVED IT! The restaurant has great food but service isn't' fast or organized. After our third night here we did talk to Maria -the manager- and she handled it well. Overall we are very happy with the stay and would come back again:)

Stayed May 23-27. Worst hotel experience ever! The first night our a/c was out, it happens, they sent a maintenance guy who couldn’t get it working and gave us another room down the hall. No big deal, a small hiccup. The next night our key card no longer worked for the room so we got new ones. The next day I get a call from the police and they are in our hotel room going through our belongings, curious why all our stuff is in the room. Apparently no one on the staff communicates and who ever was working didn’t know that room was occupied by us. The fact that all our belonging were in the room was just baffling to them and instead of maybe calling us or asking the manager they called the police. Someone, not sure if it was the police or housekeeping, packed our stuff into our luggage and into a trash bag! Did we ever get an explanation or an apology? No. I truly don’t think they cared.
While all this was frustrating, the room itself had an overall feel of dampness. The sheets, carpet, etc. felt damp. Not pleasant at all. And even with the new room, the a/c never actually got cold, just better than the broken one. The “water park” had weird hours as well. Will never ever stay here again!

It was like staying in a high school boys locker room. Yelling. Running in the halls. I couldn't stay and checked out before staying even a night. When I asked about getting a refund... the scary man at the desk said 'you have to ask them'. When I asked who them was he got aggressive and said 'whoever you booked through!' I asked to see a manager. He said 'I Am a manager!' Huge jerk. I wouldn't stay there for free!

The hotel allows people to purchase day passes to the pool area, so it is overflowing with kids and parents every day regardless of the number of people staying at the hotel. We stayed for three days and every day was horribly loud and crowded in the pool area. All food or drinks in the entire resort must be purchased from the expensive bar and/or restaurant, so it ends up getting pricey unless you want to miss out on swimming time to leave to go get food. Finally, both of my children after just a few hours of swimming got a bright red rash all over their bodies that burned and stung. After looking this up, we determined it was either a parasite contamination in the pool water (yuck!) or almost as bad, chlorine burns from not having the correct pH balance in the water. They were miserable. We bought aloe vera gel, had them take showers and alerted hotel staff that there was a problem. The next day the same thing happened after just a short time in the pool. There were other families that said the same thing had happened to their children, as well. Unfortunately we had to cut our time in the pool short each day, which is the entire reason we chose this place to stay.

We've stayed at the Ramada Tropics twice now and both times were excellent stays. Both times we stayed were overnight breaks while traveling between Minnesota and Missouri and provided us with some much-needed down time. At both visits I had my grandchildren with me and they had a blast at the pool area. I enjoyed a clean, quiet room and a good night's sleep. On our second visit a wedding reception was going on near our room. We were told it would end at midnight, but even though the music could be heard from the hallway, I could not hear any noise from within the room!
Last, but not least, this is a pet friendly hotel that only charges $10 for their pet fee. This is awesome and greatly appreciated!
We will always choose you when passing through, Ramada Tropics!
