Motel 6 Charlotte Coliseum

The star rating for the hotel was correct and my rating is in conjunction with a 3 star hotel so keep that in mind. I was just looking for a place I could check in late from the amusement park and leave very early in the morning to hit the road to go home. Although the hotel was by no means fancy, the room was very clean and the staff super polite. Sadly there was one bug in the hotel. I suspect it was from the neighbor who I think was living in there. But for what I needed it for, a place to check in late and sleep safely for the night without breaking the bank since I already did that at Carowinds. It was perfect and I would stay again. We had a party of 6 so we had to get 2 rooms. If I were staying for a week I would stay in a better hotel but to just crash for a night yes most definitely would do it again. The stars of the hotel reflect the condition so people who took photos and complain as if they expected this to be like a 4 star hotel were being unrealistic. I only took a star off for the bug and if you read my other reviews you know I am a harsh but fair critic.

The staff was very pleasant and hospitable. However the cleanliness of the room was not. It looked like the floors weren't swept in a month . I checked for bed bugs, there was none which made me relieved .we got our stuff in the room and left to go to our event. We come back and the room was infested with roaches. We were sitting in the bed and watched the roaches run across the headboard . They were crawling up the walls and on the door. There was a bunch in the bathroom as well. I went down to the office and they moved us 20 doors down in the middle of the night. The new room was cleaner and no roaches or bed bugs. Check in and check out were easy.

This has, by and far, been the cleanest, friendliest, best run Motel 6 that I have stayed at. My room was made every day and I was given fresh towels daily (which does not happen at other Motel 6's I've stayed at), the staff was always friendly and acted like they wanted to be there. My dogs were received well, as well. The ONLY complaint that I have is that the grounds weren't the best kept. Trash was often outside of the trash bins or overflowing and the elevator could definitely use some maintenance. Considering the other Motel 6's that I have stayed at, this was an absolute luxury and other Motel 6's should take note. The value for the price paid was absolutely outstanding.

The building inside and out is dirty. My bathroom still had residue and dirt left in tub. Mold was on the bathroom tub. Food/ drink stains on the walls and doors. Dust and webs on the ceilings, walls. You can just smell the mold when you open the door to room and bathroom. Holes showing around the sockets. Wires from tv all on the floor. Neighbors were sweeping trash from their room to outside sidewalk. I could not stay a second day as I had planned in that room. The rooms need to be properly and thoroughly cleaned ESPECIALLY the bathroom. It needs to be cleaned w bleach.

The front office staff was nice, however I did experience some issues during my stay. The first room that I was checked into was a smoking room which was very out dated and had roaches. I immediately went to the front office and the agent did quickly put me into another. The second room was a little bit better. I can tell it had been updated and no roaches were in the room, however the bathroom really needs a lot of work. The area that it was in was really quiet and I had no issues with anyone who stayed there.
