Candlewood Suites Kansas City Speedway

Has about the most amenities I've seen in a suite, which was nice. But the whole hotel was non-smoking and our room smelled pretty heavily like cigarette. Didn't bother me much, but still isn't ideal. The batteries were removed from our smoke detector.. and the floors were really sticky. There were people outside of our room in the drive with their hazards on checking in until decently late at night, and the curtain that blocked out light was not able to be moved, rather fixed in place. The white curtain that could be moved did little to keep out the flashing lights. Like I said though, the suite room was large, had 2 TV's, a table to sit at, separate bedroom, large bathroom, and a fridge, microwave, range, cupboards, etc. Not a bad place at all, just don't expect it to feel super clean and fancy.

I was unhappy due to a rule I was not aware of. The rule stated that the hotel could not check in my friends and I because we were not 21. When I made the reservation, I made the mistake of assuming that because I was 18 I could check into a hotel. While I do not fault the staff at the hotel since they were simply following the rule, I strongly disagree with the rule of the hotel. I was never told why 21 was the proper age, and can think of no reason why an 18 year old shouldn't be allowed to Check into a hotel that they made a reservation for.

A nice quiet place to stay. The facility is well-maintained and is even currently going through an upgrade. The staff is very friendly and very helpful.

Awful check-in experience. I could make this a longer review but will spare you of all the details. Basically their check-in system is terrible and they double-charged me for my room...which on the night I stayed was $300 (they charged me $600 on 2 different debit cards). They said one of the charges would drop-off of my card, but 2 days later and I haven't seen that happen yet. They blamed the situation on the fact that the hotel was sold out for the night and never even apologized for the inconvenience. The management of this hotel is a complete joke. Never again.

Not impressed. There were unfortunate issues when we went to check in, but were resolved. Just not a good situation to have to deal with after spending 6 hrs. on the road. The Carpet in our room was dirty and felt slimy. Rain came through window leaving carpeting wet. Bathroom showed some cleaning, but floor boards behind door were dirty and looked like it had not been cleaned in awhile. One ‘decorative’ pillow on bed was totally opened on one end with shredded foam coming out of it. Front desk personnel for the most part were considerate. The place needs some new carpets or at least clean them.
