Extended Stay America - Kansas City - Overland Park

I'm not usually one to complain, but I mentioned to my husband's multiple times how disappointed I was with this hotel. First, we requested a room with 2 queen beds but were given a room with one bed for 2 adults and a child. The "non smoking" room smelled like smoke. When I asked to upgrade to a room with more beds I was told that they were all dirty and he didn't know when they would be cleaned. I asked for a cot and was told they didn't have any. The best I was offered was extra blankets for someone to sleep on the floor. Awful. They didn't have any extra pillows - we had 2 for 3 people. We will not stay there again.

This place was affordable, but the overall experience was not good. Sound rating between rooms did not exist, we could hear everyone coming and going. The pillows were flat and hard. When we asked for additional, we were told there were non available. The room we were assigned had a broken bedside table. No coffee maker was available in the room. There is a greeting card in the room showing amenities to "just ask for" items. We asked for a coffee pot and were told they didn't have any. The free "breakfast" was instant oatmeal packets next to a coffee pot.

The employee's were very good, attentive and very nice. As for the room it was clean, the location seemed to be a bit out of the way but was central 8 to 10 mins from all the places we needed to go after our arrival. The other guests left something to be desired, seemed like a lot of young males that had rooms but hung out in the parking lot in the evening. I also got a strong smell of weed coming from the stairs. I probably wouldn't stay here again due to the other guests.

Worst hotel ever. When we checked in there was a putrid smell in the hallway like burning hair and nail polish. Then when I got to my room not only was the bed NOT MADE, there were absolutely no sheets, towels, or pillow cases anywhere, so they switched me to another room instead. They never once came to clean the rooms or deliver fresh towels the entire time we were there. The wifi was so sh***y that I had to keep signing back into it on my phone the same as when we first arrived; I eventually gave up on it and just used my data connection instead. That might not have been so bad if the TV channels didn't suck. Then there was the shoddy furniture; tables with loose and crooked legs, rickety drawer units, and office type chairs that slowly sink in height regardless of how you adjust them. I would only recommend this hotel if you hate yourself, otherwise you'd seriously be better off sleeping in your own vehicle instead.

My room was nice and clean. Service was very helpful, nice, and gracious. Enjoyed my stay. For a grab and go breakfest it was very nice and they also let us get as much as we wanted. Wish they had a pool. But my shower was huge and very nice. Bed was kinda hard and room didnt stay very cold but still slept fine. I would recommend this place for a nice place to sleep if you have no kids.
