A co-worker took his vehicle in as this Goodyear is two blocks from our work. He is very unfamiliar with auto repairs and as a former mechanic I recommended he have his serpentine belt replaced as they were replacing his alternator and the serpentine belt had to be removed to replace the alternator. Danny or Donnie told him that would cost an additional $93 to replace the serpentine belt. My co-worker asked why it would cost so much and the employee stated that was the labor for the belt. I spoke up and stated he would have to remove the belt either way. The employee stated he did not have to remove the belt completely. At this point I said that the labor rate was based on a flat rate time and labor guide and that what he was doing was wrong. He stated that he did not have to remove the belt completely to replace the alternator. This will be the last time my co-worker or anyone in our department at our hospital, that surrounds this Goodyear, will recommend anyone use this Goodyear again. All other repair shops I have ever worked at or dealt with would have replaced that belt.
