Fairfield Inn by Marriott Kansas City Downtown/Union Hill

They've done a nice job with the renovations there recently. Well located in the Union Hill neighborhood, within walking distance of Liberty Memorial, Union Station and Crown Center with a nice size parking lot. The rooms were a little small but were clean and well kept. They were able to take a last minute reservation for us which was nice and the gals at the front desk were friendly and helpful. They had a nice breakfast area with a decent selection for their complimentary breakfast. They do have a free shuttle service which is a very nice feature however their driver was a tad rude, despite us likely being his only shuttle of the evening which is why I give it 4 stars.

Decent hotel located within the vicinity of downtown entertainment places and work places. Complimentary parking is a great incentive to stay at this hotel. Breakfast is complimentary and decent. Staff is friendly and helpful. Cons: Could do a better job making sure room floor and desk area are completely tidy. Overall, no major complaints and would recommend hotel.

Staff was great! Hotel is very clean with good breakfast options. Just down the road from the Plaza District. Shuttle available every 30 Minutes.

Perfect place to stay if you're attending an event at nearby Uptown Theatre. Friendly staff, tidy rooms, very nice breakfast. Plenty of free parking.

When I went to check in I needed to extend my stay by one day. The front desk staff at first were friendly but then became unhelpful. They told me there was no way I could extend my stay because there were no rooms available. The only advice they gave me was to check back the next day. As I was asking a question about that the woman helping me cut me off and ended the conversation. I didn't even get to finish my question. When we got to our room it was clean but smelled very musty. The smell is only noticable right away and you get used to it so it's not the worst problem. As soon as I got into the room I called reservations and they had no problem extending my stay. It could be that the front desk isn't able to extend stays and I had to call reservations but it would have been nice to have been told that instead of being told it was impossible and given no directive on who I could call. The next day, housekeeping must have forgotten about us because they just never came to clean. However, after that our stay improved a lot. All of my other interactions with the staff was positive. They were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping did come clean everyday after missing us the first day. The location is almost perfect if you have a car and the price is great. I know Missouri is humid but our room was so damp that my clothes almost felt wet when I would put them on. Probably the reason our room smelled. Based on everything I would actually give it a 3.5 if possible.
