Clarion Hotel & Suites Hamden-New Haven

A friend and I are staying here two nights. The room is clean and quiet. Breakfast is off the lobby. The hotel is located right off the highway. There is a dinner just out the door and across the parking lot. There are business in the area within easy walking distance. I would recommend.

Bathroom was dirty when we got to the room, door doesn't lock half the time, Closet is broken, Sink drain is broken, shower is dirty, toilet is leaking brownish yellow water and the pool is cloudy and over chlorinated. This is a poorly renovated motel turned into a hotel with some facade work. Breakfast was gross. Coffee undrinkable. Cereal was stale. Will never recommend or stay here again. DUMP! Update* Noticed mold in the shower. It smells like they are using a strong fragrance to cover up cigarette smell.

I thought it was odd and unnecessary to photocopy my driver's license at check in, but the front desk told me it's a precaution based on past criminal activity. Staff were nice, room was comfortable and reasonably clean, but dated. Found someone else's prescription pills in my room that had apparently been left from a previous guest, so not too thorough in cleaning. The only TV in the fitness center was broken/not working. Breakfast was okay, fake eggs. Pool had strange hours, so not open during the entirety of my stay. Great location, convenient on/off from highway. Not complaining, just not a great experience.

Good location if visiting Yale. Staff was quite friendly and helpful. Room was not terribly clean, and would benefit from some basic maintenance, too. Free breakfast, but you get what you pay for. They have a pet- friendly wing, which is nice, but don't offer king-sized beds in those rooms.

Not the best experience here, however, the place appeared to be a bit understaffed. My room had dirty linens, and the change of linens that were brought to my room weren't any better. The bathroom wasn't very clean, and I don't think the room was vacuumed. I had a reservation for 2 nights, but ended up cutting my stay down to one night. On a positive note, the staff members are friendly and helpful. Also, the hotel does provide a free shuttle, has decent amenities (i.e. fitness room, pool, wifi, etc.), and provides complimentary breakfast (with a hot bar) from 6:30-10 am. The diner across the parking lot has a more extensive and varied menu, though. I wish I could give this place more stars, but I couldn't get past the dirty linens. Ruined my whole stay. This place is just okay. There are other area hotels that are of better quality, and are comparably priced.
