Alex came out on a cold very windy day, he didn't hesitate to climb his ladder to fully inspect the roof anyways. He was as thorough and knowledgeable as an inspector could possibly be on every category of inspection. I followed him during the entire inspection as he mentioned all deficiencies, answered all of my questions and explained in depth what his concerns or non concerns were. My real estate agent witnessed some of his process and she noticed his friendliness and knowledge and asked him if he would be accessible to her for her other clients! I am a first-time home buyer, and my realtor recommended StepByStep for the inspection. Vince was punctual; already looking at the back side of the house when I pulled in at the agreed time. He was thorough; checked every outlet, faucet, drain, heating vent, etc. in the entire house. Being new to this, I had lots of questions and Vince could answer all of them. The attic access panel was in a closet, above a built-in shelf system. I swear only a raccoon could fit up there. But Vince wriggled up there and took lots of pictures so I could see it too. We left the house at about 4:30pm, and his full report with all of the pictures and comments was sent to me at 7pm the same day. Amazingly fast, thorough, and just overall a great experience.

I've used step-by-step twice now in the last year, and been very impressed both times. I'm a fairly knowledgeable homeowner, and he's not only found things that I would never have thought of, but also walked me through remediation. Very knowledgeable, very thorough, and very friendly & professional.

That's what we discovered shortly after move-in. Totally destroyed floor under the shower pan and water dripping from the ceiling in the living room. Inspector and his insurance company rejected to cover any cost relevant to this damage. Please save your 400 bucks and hire good contractor which will do the same job but for much less.
