Dean has completed inspections on two different homes for us, and we could not be happier with his work. He’s extremely professional and has always been very timely in returning my calls and scheduling our inspection. The format for his written inspection is very easy to follow, he goes over everything with you and your realtor after the inspection, and he is always available for follow up questions via email, phone call or text.
Dean is extremely thorough and spends time explaining each room and what he’s looking for. He even made sure we knew some ways to prevent issues from happening to the home and what we could do to preserve appliances.
I highly recommend Dean, you won’t be disappointed!

I utilized Dean's services for my well & septic inspection. Dean was punctual, professional, and ultimately saved me $20,000, as the septic system was non functional and is currently being replaced with an engineered system at the current home owner's expense.

I needed a home inspection done right in the middle of Christmas and New Years, and Dean was available within a one day notice. Very professional and courteous. He took his time explaining all the details, and items in the home.
He was also very up-front and honest about certain specialty inspections I was going to have him do, and I was able to save some money.
I would recommend him, and will use him again next time.

After putting in an offer on a home in Michigan while still living in Arizona in May, 2014, my agent recommended Dean Farner because his reports were better suited for long-distance situations. Once we got moved in, we started finding all the obvious stuff Dean failed to put into his report. There were nail pops in most of the drywall and ceilings where he said there was none, he called a wobbly toilet "stable", and there were obvious ceiling water stains in several locations he did not mention at all. The list I have is quite extensive. While the general structure was sound and we would have purchased the house regardless, this guy just missed way too many details to be considered a professional. Some of these things really needed answers from the previous owner before we closed. And on top of it all, they guy tells me the seller was there with him during the inspection which seems like a huge conflict and very unprofessional. This guy is supposed to be working for me, not buddy-ing up with the seller while supposedly finding all the stuff wrong with the home. Dean's report format is nice, but if it's only going to cover a fraction of the issues, why bother at all. I recommend staying away from Dean Farner, "The Michigan Home Inspector".
